- 3.
Schedule your complimentary live video call with Peter for a guided real-time fitting
- 4.
Confirm your size together and we lock it in before crafting begins
Peter's tip: Try sizing at the end of the day when fingers are slightly larger from daily activity. This gives you the most reliable fit for everyday wear.
The Existing Ring Method
Best when they already wears ringsIf they already wears rings on their ring finger, one of their existing pieces is your most reliable reference. You can bring it into our Naples studio directly or use the mandrel from your sizing kit to measure it yourself at home.
- 1.
Borrow a ring they wear on their left hand ring finger
- 2.
Bring it to our studio and we measure it on the spot with precision tools, takes under a minute
- 3.
Or place it on the mandrel from your sizing kit and note where it sits comfortably
Peter's tip: If you cannot get away with borrowing the ring, try it on your own finger and mark with a pen exactly how far down it slides. Bring that to us and we can measure it directly on your finger.
The Paper Strip Method
Simple and accurate · No special tools neededA simple and surprisingly accurate method that requires nothing more than a strip of paper and a pen. Works well when you are with the person being sized and they are happy to help, or as a quick at-home measurement before your consultation.
- 1.
Cut a thin strip of paper about half an inch wide
- 2.
Wrap it snugly around the base of their ring finger and mark where it overlaps
- 3.
Measure the length in millimeters and share that number with us
- 4.
We convert it to the exact ring size and confirm before crafting begins
Peter's tip: Take the measurement two or three times and average the results. Fingers can shift slightly each time depending on pressure, so averaging gives you the most accurate reading.
The Friend or Family Method
Perfect for surprise proposalsEnlist a trusted friend, sister, or family member who has access to them. They can use the sizing kit on their behalf, ask them directly without giving away the surprise, or bring in one of their rings. This method is used more often than you would think and works beautifully.
- 1.
Choose someone they trusts completely and who can keep a secret
- 2.
Have them casually try on rings together or bring up ring sizing in natural conversation
- 3.
They use the sizing kit and report the size back to you
Peter's tip: We have had mothers, best friends, and sisters all help us nail the perfect size for a Naples client's surprise proposal. It works every time when the right person is enlisted.
Visit Our Studio Together
Best when they know about the ringIf they are aware of the ring, the easiest and most accurate method is visiting our private jewelry studio in Naples together. We size them on the spot with professional tools and they can try on styles while they are here, making it a memorable part of the process.
- 1.
Book an appointment or walk into our Naples studio during business hours
- 2.
We size their finger precisely with professional ring gauges and a mandrel
- 3.
They can try on styles, share preferences, and contribute to the custom design process
Peter's tip: Many couples visit our Naples studio together for the initial design consultation. It removes all guesswork and turns the sizing into a special shared moment.
The Informed Estimate Method
When all other methods are not possibleIf none of the above options are available, we can make an educated estimate based on their height, build, and hand size. The average US women's ring size is between a 6 and 6.5, and most women fall between a 5 and a 7. Our free first-year resize ensures you are covered if the estimate is slightly off.
- 1.
Share details with Peter about their build, height, and whether they have slender or average hands
- 2.
We recommend the closest size based on fitting hundreds of clients in Southwest Florida
- 3.
We build in a buffer knowing our free first-year resize covers you if a small adjustment is needed
Peter's tip: When in doubt, always size slightly larger rather than smaller. A ring that is a touch loose is easier and less costly to adjust than one that cannot pass over the knuckle.
Ring Size Reference Guide
Quick reference for the most common ring sizes and how to convert a measurement into a US size.
Most Common Women's Sizes
The most common ring size for women in the United States falls between a size 6 and a 6.5, with most women wearing between a 5 and a 7.
To convert a measurement: divide the finger circumference in mm by 3.14 to get the diameter, then compare to a standard US size reference.
When in doubt, size slightly larger. It is easier and less costly to size a ring down than to stretch one up.
Most Common Men's Sizes
The most common ring size for men in the United States falls between a size 9 and a 10, with most men wearing between an 8 and an 11.
Men's fingers tend to vary more with temperature and time of day. Measure in the evening when fingers are at their largest for the most reliable fit.
For comfort fit wedding bands, size up by half a size since the rounded interior profile makes the band feel slightly larger on the finger.
Not sure which size applies? Do not guess. Every Sakaris custom order includes a complimentary ring sizing kit shipped directly to you, along with a live video fitting with Peter. Getting the exact size right before production begins is always our first priority.
Eternity Bands and Ring Sizing
Why Eternity Bands Cannot Be Resized
Unlike solitaire or fashion rings, eternity bands feature diamonds or gemstones set all the way around the band. Each stone is precisely cut and set to fit that exact circumference.
Resizing an eternity band would require removing and re-cutting stones to fit a new diameter, which compromises the integrity of the original design. For this reason, eternity bands that require a size change must be fully rebuilt.
This is why getting the size exactly right before we begin crafting is especially critical for all eternity band orders at our Naples studio.
How We Handle It
For every eternity band order, we take extra care during the sizing process. Every client receives our free sizing kit and a dedicated live video call with Peter to confirm the perfect size before a single stone is set.
In the rare event a rebuild is needed, we work closely with the client and discuss all options transparently. Our goal is always to make it right.
When in doubt, we would rather spend extra time getting the size confirmed before we begin than have a client wait longer for a full rebuild after delivery.
Ring Sizing FAQs
There are several discreet methods. The most reliable is borrowing an existing ring worn on the same finger and bringing it to our Naples studio where we measure it in under a minute. You can also slip the ring onto your own finger and mark with a pen how far it goes, then bring that to us. Another option is using a thin strip of paper wrapped around the finger to measure the circumference. Every Sakaris custom order also includes a free sizing kit and a live video call with Peter to make the process as easy as possible.
The most common ring size for women in the United States is between a 6 and a 6.5. Most women fall between a size 5 and a size 7. That said, ring size varies based on height, build, and hand size. When in doubt, sizing slightly larger is always the safer choice since it is easier and less costly to size down than to stretch a ring up.
Yes. We offer one complimentary ring resize within the first year of purchase for all engagement rings and fashion rings. If your ring is not quite perfect after delivery, simply reach out to us and we will take care of it at no charge. This does not apply to eternity bands, which require a full rebuild if the size needs to change due to their all-around stone setting.
Eternity bands cannot be traditionally resized because diamonds are set all the way around the band. Each stone is precisely cut to fit that exact circumference, so resizing would require removing and re-cutting stones. For this reason, eternity bands that require a size change must be fully rebuilt. This is why we take extra precautions during sizing for all eternity band clients, including a free sizing kit and live video fitting with Peter before any work begins.
